As with any anti biotic it should ONLY be used when essential, in my case the flu always goes to my lungs and this medication is very effective, I collapse and am breathing difficulty without it and yes I make sure I get the first flu jab when it is available.

Its brilliant if you can prise it out of the doctors. Suffer from tonsillitis frequently and this last time they refused to give it to me. I'm a steroid dependent asthmatic so the slightest infection causes the asthma to flare up. Still suffering three weeks into it

Profile

Amoxicillin is a penicillin antibiotic that fights bacteria. Amoxicillin is used to treat many different types of infection caused by bacteria, such as tonsillitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, gonorrhea, and infections of the ear, nose, throat, skin, or urinary tract. Amoxicillin is also sometimes used together with another antibiotic called clarithromycin (Biaxin) to treat stomach ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection. This combination is sometimes used with a stomach acid reducer called lansoprazole (Prevacid).
